you gave for Rex Moore is highly gratifying. I know full well that he is far in advance of my social grace at that age. I trust that his action and manners will always be motivated by sincerity, graciousness, and humility. Nothing is so disgusting as affectation even if done well. Remember, we noted that the quality lacking in Chesterfields treatise on social charm and convention was personal sincerity. Certainly that quality lacking leaves all other effort to no avail - a skeleton without substance, a painting without color; and yet that quality present will hide completely a great many minor violations of etiquette.
