to see Bill about the farm operations for this year. The day was mild and grand. It truly was a vacation and it was good to get back on one's own piece of land again. Had dinner at the farm with Bill and his hired hand) inspected the new hog house, now well populated with new litters; looked at the cattle in the feed lot; climbed the hill to gase over the flat acres on the bottom and to examine the wheat and rye on the upper fields. Not a show place to be sure, but it has a lot of production possibilities and may, during a period of prosperity and expanding land values, be sold at a reasonable profit. That is the main object, tho I expect to take pleasure in operating it during the next few years, and with some reasonable return to the stockholders, I hope. If you are home this summer probably you will want to run up with me some day. Did you know that Ben has his board job back for the spring quarter? It seemed to be unavailable when he left for spring vacation, but immediately upon his return the situation had been reversed. Seiffert had a hand it that I believe, and he also has arranged for a concession on Ben's initiation cost that will be helpful. This is private information, of course. Ben tells us that his grade for winter quarter was 2.625 and that George Wales made 3.5. Ben expects to make his 3.0 for the spring quarter, and 1 fancy he will do it. It rather pays to get the good grades if it can be done without too much strain or abstinence from other good activities. As you have discovered, employers of a certain kind place considerable emphasis on scholastic records. This, my friend, must cease sometime, and I trust that it will place us again in your good graces as correspondents. May all blessings attend you as well as our Love Pop
