[April 20, 1939] Nile C. Kinnick Jr. Phi Kappa Psi House Iowa City, Iowa Thursday Dear Family: Tomorrow morning at nine oclock I have a test in European history; one of the questions is sure to be over that turbulent period of Germany under Bismarck. Possibly at the very same time Hitler will be making another of his quick thrusts for territory, another step in a drama far more audacious and epoch making than even Bismarck dreamed of. I really should be studying, but at the moment I much prefer to write to you folks. I hope that it will prove time well spent. Yesterday I was elected to the honorary Economics organization.
