May 2nd, 1939 Mr. Harold Pride Memorial Union Iowa State College Ames, Iowa Dear Harold: Thank you for your thoughtful and very kind letter of the 27th in regard to Ben's election to the Student Board. He had written us that his name had been suggested, so we were interested in the outcome, and noted that his support was rather generous. We shall be glad to learn more of the duties and responsibilities attached to this office, as it is entirely new to me. The Cardinal Guild was the big event when we were undergraduates, but you say that it has largely been supplanted by the Union Board. Perhaps Ben can tell us more when he comes home in June. Ben appears to have developed already a deep feeling for the institution, and I am pleased that he is early finding his placne for service in the basic activities on the campus. Your interest in him is very much appreciated, Harold, and I hope that he will be able to render some service worthy of the appointment. The youngest of the Kinnick boys, George, is expecting to visit Ben during Vieshea next week, and altho he is not new to the Ames campus, he is certainly looking forward to that visit. With very kind regards. I am Yours very truly [Nile Kinnick, Sr.]
