swimming pool & a tennis court. If I had written you previous to last nite I should have raved about this place & how it was seventh heaven to Ben & I but last night Gene Jr. took us up to the Philmont ranch & met the Phillips family. It is by far the best place I have ever been near. They have a large private pool enormous grounds & the house is nicer than anything you see in the movies. Why the whole town of Omaha couldn't buy the front gate. It makes old Brandeis look like a pauper I doubt if he could buy the handle to flush the stool. Mrs. Phillips is a nice lady & not uppish at all. We didn't meet Mr. Phillips but the boy about 17, is alright tho quite indolent & quite naturally indifferent. A fellow about 20 is getting paid to run around with him can you get that. The whole setup was the cats meow. The first day Gene Sr. showed us around the farm & how they irrigated. Yesterday we went trout fishing on Eagle Nest Lake. We fished about two hours & Ben caught the only fish - about 1 1/2 lbs. Today we are going to Taos to see the Indian pueblos. The way things are going we don't know whether to stay five or six weeks. I doubt if we go to Carlsbad, it is so far & the shortest way has very poor roads. By the way my knee is still quite stiff & swollen but is steadily getting better.
