[July ?, 1938] Monday Dear Uncle Chas:- I just returned from a six day canoe trip yesterday noon and found your fine letter in my mailbox. My letter to the folks about my first canoe trip was originally intended for you - that is, as I paddled along and saw Nature's interesting things, I naturally thought of you first - however, on my return I decided that since I hadn't written home in quite awhile that my obligation was in their favor.
