245 Fries Avenue Wilmington Transfer and Storage Company Wilmington, California Saturday Morning Sept. 24 1938. From: C.B.Carter Dear Nile:[Sr] Just a note before starting up to see the U. S.C.- Alabama game. Nile had a bad break last night on one play and because it made a good story the newspapers were not very kind to him. He played a bang up game the rest of the time. The ball was wet so that the passing by both sides was not to good . Iowa's running attack was just as good as U.C.L.A. but Iowa seemed to be lame on the ends on defense. Nile saved two or three touchdowns with his splendid defensive work. I could not tell just what the trouble was on this one play but it seemed to me that Nile did not know that he was in the end zone when he intercepted that pass. It seemed to be such a surprise to him to see where he was that he didn't know what to do till it was to late. Five years from now he will get a laugh when he remembers it. I have not been able to see him yet. I could not get in the dressing room last night but perhaps I will see him at the game today. Very truly, Nick. There are more clippings at home which I will send later.
