[Oct. 9, 1938] Sunday - 7:45 Dear Family: - I hardly know what to say - perhaps nothing should be said - who knows. The game Saturday was awfully sad in so many ways. We looked terrible - no punch on offense and no fight on defense - our line is absolutely too slow. There seems to be a belief that we tire quickly & easily - and it isn't because we have worked too hard during the week. Perhaps, it arises from the emphasis that they seem to put on right diet, blood count, etc. Under the circumstances I was fairly well satisfied with my performance although it was not very good. I don't care whether we win or lose as long as I feel that I have
