[Nov. 14, 1938] Mon. - 5:30 P:M. Dear Family, The game at Indiana was a heartbreaker. The boys fought harder than I have ever seen them. It was hot and it seemed as if they were on our goal line all afternoon. But we dug in and held them time after time. We hung on even tho we were all so tired we could hardly move. After getting that field goal we thought surely we had them beaten - and then by golly they scored on one their many passes. I played the only real game I have played all year - blocked and tackled with a reckless abandon and ran spontaneously and unhampered whenever necessary.
