[Dec. 11, 1938] Sunday Dear Family: It has now been quite a little while since I have written you. Many things have come to me during the past week or two which I wanted to pass along to you, but now that I actually have my pen in hand they seem to have slipped away. My mind has been so active the past two or three years that hardly a day passes that I do not feel compelled to express myself in writing. However, since the feeling is quite transitory I hardly ever act on my compulsion.
