BILL WESCOTT 47 EAST NINTH STREET . NEW YORK CITY . GRAMERCY 5-6980 June 26, 1943 University of Iowa, Alumni Association, Iowa City, Iowa. Gentlemen: I understand that yon propose to erect a memorial to your great hero and athlete, Nyle Kinnick. I would consider it a great privilege, if you would give me the opportunity of making a trial monument, bust, or whatever you have in mind, before yon definitely commission anyone to do the work. There would be no obligation of any sort on your part, unless you should decide to accept my work. All that I should like would be a general idea of what you have in mind. I have had considerable experience in doing sculpture from photographs, and I offer the enclosed pictures of Lou Gehrlg, and Winston Churchill as samples of my work. Sincerely yours, Bill Wescott WCW:Y
