Monday, November 21, 1988 [NILE KINNICK SR. TO BOB HOBBS] My dear Bob: After sealing the accompanying envelope, I saw that I should send one of explanation. Certainly that was the scrappyist and the lest well organization message of goodwill and affection that I have ever sent to any one, and I apologize. I wont let it happen again. There are many signs that time for me is running out. Twice in the last three months I have I have fallen with unhappy results. Outside both times, doining something useful and ordinary. Keeping control of the force of gravity evidently in one definite sign of advancing age. I stil have no aches or pains, except those associated with the falls. I eat lightly as I am doing little work, sleep well every night and get up at six. No complaints, except that I am becoming less useful, gradually. So I am ready to go. Being closer to 96 than 95 is long enough, wouldn't you say? But I will stay on as long as the Lord is willing. Sorry to have to write this kind of note. I'm sure you understand. Love Nile
