Thursday noon April 15, 1943 Dear Gus, Your well written letters are a source of much enjoyment-and much pride-to me. Time and again I have regretted not saving them. I trust you are filing a copy of each to which we may make future reference. Together with the letters from Ben and I have written home they should provide an interesting record of this period of family experience. George could profit much by studying their thought and style. Lest your modesty deter you from making the suggestion, I hereby urge him to take a lesson from the old man in the art of written correspondence. Your response to my thought that we might someday combine our talents for mutual profit and enjoyment made me very happy. You as farm production manager and I as a warrior in the political field, frequently returning to the country homestead for encouragement and strength has the most appeal. However, let's keep our minds and eyes open for any opportunity of whatever nature-and which could include the whole family. Among the five of us we have a good combination of health, energy, ambition, brains, talent, industry. It would be so much fun to capitalize
