Hope that, directly or indirectly, you will express my regret for failing to answer-apart from you people I have been sadly delinquent in my correspondence the last month or so. Gus, I think a good history of Iowa should be added to my library. Hasn't the gov't sponsored writer's project gotten out something pretty good along this line? Hope you will keep tucked away in your mind the chronological order of the important events happening this coming year, I am apt to fall behind. Particularly listen and learn all you can of the political forces loose in the land. The next presidential nominating conventions are only 14 months away, the election, itself, only a year and a half. It is vitally important that everyone, from electorate through the political parties up to the nominees themselves, measure up to the highest concepts of statesmanship. Roosevelt has been a great president, doing the country immeasurably more good than he has harm. However, the damage he has done is of an insidious, long range nature, unappreciable to the great mass of people who think in terms of the immediate present, and ergo all the more dangerous.
