training and experience, but as always I am eager to move on. It is not going to be pleasant to part from Bob. We shall miss each other a lot. However, there are friends to be made everywhere which will fill the gap until we join hands again under more peaceful circumstances. He is due to go to a replacement group in Alameda in about two weeks. I'm not just sure what those A.P. calls were about. Someone told me they called the station to verify a rumor that I had crashed. Am glad they didn't alarm you folks. Perhaps, it was just something in connection with the Heisman ceremony. In any event I enclose a clipping which will be of interest to you. Evidently W. Martin didn't bother to find out which service I was in and Hobbs criticizes his condescending phrase "his fine little memorized speech." It hardly seems possible that it was three years ago that I went to New York for that trophy-happy memories. Glad to hear that George was elected captain of the basketball team. Hope he gets as many points as he deems satisfactory, but of course the important thing is that he do his job well, inspire harmony and cooperation in the squad, and strive for a fair victory. It is only carrying coal to Newcastle to mention that - right George? Now a $50 bond earmarked for a kodak is a fine Xmas present, but please dont try to do too much. You first spoke of a $10 limit, and I would consider Churchill's volumes on "The World Crisis" a wonderful gift. I want father to take $10 out
