The charger came into port Tuesday night, and we were all secured until Saturday morning. Nearly everyone lit out for New York or Washington, but I elected to stick around and read. Am just finishing a book entitled The Destiny of Western Man by W.T. Stace which I want purchased for me out of my funds. It provides some secular vocabulary and phraseology in support of the relationship between democracy and christianity which I have been looking for. As I have said rather frequently during the past year I am enjoying reading more than ever before in my life. Your long letter with the enclosed clippings reached me here ok, mother, also Georges short effort. However, I haven't as yet gotten the letter which was to be the follow-up on the telegram. Did I acknowledge the candy you sent me in Jacksonville? It was very good. A letter from grandma brought $5 for a Xmas gift. One from Fred discloses that Ted expects a baby in March. The wording is Fred's; it would seem that Lee expects the baby-don't you agree? Am enclosing grandma's check which I would like to have father endorse and cash for me.
