2 believe my eyes. Haven't seen Jack since 1937 after the Iowa-Nebr. game at Lincoln - (humiliating memory?!) Tom was sent from Norfolk to New York to board his boat. He seemed to think he'd have a couple of months of training before putting out. Don't know whether you have looked up Quonset Pt. on the map or not. It is located 10 or 15 miles south of Providence on the western side of Narragansett Bay. We fly over an area bearing names quite familiar in our early New England History and literature - Martha's Vineyard I, Cape Cod, Nantucket I, Plymouth, Boston. Our carrier is located at Quincy where it is getting the final touches. Have flown up there a couple of times and circled around for a close look. Things go along pretty well here. Most of the fellows in the squadron seem to be good guys, and the skipper appears quite ok. If I can get my gunnery down better in the remaining time I'll feel all set. Chances are we'll be flying the F4F. There is still some hope of getting F6Fs of which you people have probably heard very little. It mounts a 2000 hp engine and is really a fine plane from all reports.
