Tuesday Jan.26, 1943 Dear Bob, I meant to write you last night, but fell asleep while reclining on the bed and didn't come to until this morning. You see I didn't catch an afternoon train back as I had planned. In short the story goes like this. At three oclock I go over to pick up Cotten, that wild red-head you met in the Commodore bar. However, he is waiting for an old girlfriend and induces me to linger awhile too. In about fifteen minutes she arrives - a well-figured, leggy creature and worthy of the wait. I still would have made the six oclock train had not Cotten tied up with another creature and left me with aforementioned maiden. To sum it all up we caught the last transportation out of N.Y and got into the base at ten minutes after seven, just in time for breakfast and then over to squadron. Will expatiate when next I see you. I phoned Joanne Sun. afternoon, & she exclaimed that Vicki would be delighted to go out with me next Sun. night.
