right smart playing!?!! Gus, I haven't decided for sure just how I shall handle my income tax, but will advise you soon. Shall be interested to hear what reply you get from Mr. Litton in Calif. It would seem that he wouldn't be interested in selling at around $100 per acre but you can never tell. As for the date I entered the service, I think I enlisted on Sept. 3rd and reported for training on Dec. 4th. Mother, I received the Dec. Journal and thanks a lot. Also you will be interested to know that I got to church in New York, the first chance I've had for a long time. Sat in just about the same pew as I did in the winter of 1940, for it was the same church on 43rd, not so far the Columbia U. Club. Arthur Murray's dance studio is right next door, or iis that relevant? Winnie and Rosy had quite a dramatic meeting in Casablanca, didn't they. Too bad Stalin & Chiang-Kai-shek couldn't make it. Then we might have said: "East is east & West is west, and never the twain shall meet." But when two strong men meet, there is neither Border, nor Breed, nor Birth though they come from the ends of the earth. Kipling's lines go something like that, don't they? Yours, Nile Really don't expect any leave before pulling out of here. Enclosed is an old clipping Pettit sent me and some pictures Fred Kent U. of I. photographer took.
