that I did mention something about it being a high school graduating present. That being the case I would be highly pleased if you devoted unceasing effort along this line. As far as I am concerned you may have the watch to wear as soon as you receive this letter. In fact I would be glad to know that it is strapped to your wrist when I put out to sea. Remember that it will not take care of itself. If left in an unlocked locker or on the wash stand it is apt to disappear. Should the folks have any objection to your taking possession now, I shall, at the distance, defer to their judgement, and expect you to graciously abide in their decision. I would really like you to have that watch forever, so try to hang on to it. Things go on here as usual. Some days we fly and some we don't. It is not a bad life, but not like home. How I miss you all!
