is out of the ordinary. I heard our skipper say last night that we were scheduled to leave sometime between March 15 and April 1st. Still doubt that we leave then. Gus, I find that the disbursing office renders each officer a statement of his taxable income received from the Navy, so if you can give me an idea of how much I received in dividends the past year I'll fill out my income tax blank right here. When I have figured it out I shall file it and ask that you purchase an equal amount in war bonds out of my account. Have very much enjoyed your letters written while on tour in Iowa and particularly the mention of old friends you meet - both yours and mine. Shall be very interested to learn what you hear from the man in Calif. who owns the land we want. Let me know as soon as possible. Mother, please go ahead and buy the bond as you originally intended. The more I think of the idea as you first wrote the better I like it. My snap judgement on George's going to Alaska to work this summer is negative. Having never worked away from home before I don't think that is the place to start. There should be plenty of opportunity around Omaha, shouldn't there? As for the watch -
