any student officer position is quite unenviable, but I am proud he got the recognition, nonetheless. There are a couple of requests I would like to make which I hope you can meet. If possible I would like a small snapshot of each member of the family which I can carry with me; or a small picture showing the whole group. It doesn't have to be anything special. I just would like to have you all before my eye as well as in my thought. Remember that full page picture of Churchill shown in Life at the time he was in Canada last year? The one in which his coat is open, his hand is on his hip, and he looks straight out at the whole world with stern resolution showing in every line? Would you try to get a copy of that remarkable portrait for my room at home? Would much appreciate it if you have time. Note by the morning paper that F.D.R. and I concur on the general strategy for defeating Japan. We must help China soon or our task will become infinitely greater. If we have abandoned the plan to retake the South Pacific
