rate it wasn't two minutes before he had asked me join a little party he was giving at the Copley-Plaza. It was a novel and enjoyable evening for me. Met some top dramatic critics (so what!), Paul Draper, the dancer, a lovely, leggy la femme from the cast, and dined on lobster Newburg for the first time. Hardly know how I'll be able to stand Adel or Dallas Center again!! Ah me. Kingsley, since you share my admiration for Winston Churchill you'll be interested in the new book I recently bought. "The Unrelenting Struggle" is a compilation of his speeches from Nov. 12, 1940 to Dec. 31, 1941, and is a powerful sequel to "Blood, Sweat & Tears." Whenever my enthusiasm for the war flags I just sit down and read a few pages and in a few minutes I'm all keyed and raring to go. Wish I had the time to set down for you a few of the paragraphs which especially appeal to me. By the way, be sure and see the movie "Young Mr. Pitt" if you have an opportunity. You will recall that he was the son of the Earl of Chatham, who championed the cause of the American colonies and all personal liberty, proclaiming that a man was secure in his home no matter how humble and "that all the forces of the Crown could not enter in." Pitt the Younger came prime minister of England at 24! Think of that! At the close of the Napoleonic Wars he said, "England has saved herself by her exertions, and will, I hope, save Europe by her example." Old Winnie is of the same breed and will rank in history with them, trumpeting his call of battle to all free men, and declaring to his people that "we shall not fail mankind."
