he will like it. The picture wallet is just the ticket, and the snapshots chosen are fine. However, if you have any small headshots of the good portraits of the different members of the family please send them along. Aren't there some identification or application snaps of Gus and mother around? It seems to me I have seen them and that they are good. If it is convenient I'd like father to take some pictures and mail the to me. Would also like to have a shot of grandma. In fact whatever you send I can probably cut to proper size. There is talk that we may go to Norway from here; all rumor of course. Will try to indicate in some small way in future correspondence where we are, or have been. You ask about gun jams, mother. That is one of the biggest troubles in all combat squadrons, especially at high altitudes. Even though temporarily based ashore, we are already getting "sea pay" which includes an additional 1090 of base pay. That explains the phrase on the last check. Is Geo really 5'10 3/4. as Elsie Louise writes, or is that with his shoes on? How come no one tells me about his basketball efforts? Thanks for the sentinel which came today, mother, and all the clippings you enclose. Glad you had such a nice visit with Elsie. Am sure it was mutually enjoyed. Do you think it is wise, or fair, to raise children without teaching them at any early age that there are certain things worth fighting for, that war isn't necessarily the greatest evil a man can experience? All for now - much love, Nile
