2 The left flank was lost us any fool could plainly see Bob was laughing, thought it funny as could be For there still was hope for him and not all for me. I'd only turned my head when a gentle nudge he gave "Look who's coming in," he chortled, obvious in his glee. I cast a roving glance, doubtful of his tone But there she came, oh boy, as dainty as you please I dared not stare, there were people all around, too bad, But my glance became a look, and looking saw, And fretted that Bob was sitting where I wished to be. Soon they were chatting & chuckling, friendly as could be I suffered in silence, envious, listened to their talk "Don't you act," says he, "you look the part." "Oh yes, says she, sweet & low," I appear next week, I'm not really very good, but its lots of fun!" And so it went, and more, till curtain time Lights were dimmed, quiet came, the act began I saw the play of course, and so did Bob But what of that beside this lovely creature fair Her laughter tinkled, her slightest movement thrilled.
