Wednesday Oct. 29, 1942 Dear Folks, Yesterday I received a letter from grandma which enclosed a clipping from the D.M. Register about George's success on the gridiron this fall. It was most favorable and made me very proud. However, I was unaware that he had compiled such a prodigious punt average or that he had gained so much weight. Its that punt average that really gets me though - and George told me before I left that kicking was one thing he could do very well. If he has actually averaged 59 yards in 4 games my hat is off to him - also my pants and shirt and everything else. As for filling my shoes, that's a laugh. He managed that long ago. Primo Carnera's should be next. A few days after arriving in Jacksonville Bob and I ran into George Hill at ships service on the main station. About a week ago Dick Stephens phoned saying that he was a gunnery officer
