Thursday Nov. 5, 1942 Dear Folks, There isn't much to tell this trip. Things go along from day to day with monotonous regularity - and seldom it it is that any of us gets to fly more than an hour or two a day. Under this schedule I manage to read quite a bit and get in a lot of sack time. Not since I was in grade school have I enjoyed reading so much. Have just finished "The Story of the Bible" by Hendrick Van Loon and a fine historical novel by Kenneth Roberts, "The Lively Lady." The former is a pleasant, but somewhat cynical, narration of Biblical history providing a continuity that is difficult to get from the reading the original. The latter book is a well told tale of American Privateering during the War of 1812. But in spite of the leisure and the books I find myself getting more and more restless. Let's get out and get it over with and get back home again. When last I wrote you we
