2 Oh yes, there is another little item of interest you will want to hear about. When I first stood before them for interview a Navy Lieutenant said, "Mr. Kinnick, haven't we heard of you before?" I replied that possibly they had whereupon, the senior member of the Board, a Lt. Comm; came to life, asking what this all meant. The Lt. then informed him that I had been an All-American in 1939, etc, etc. Well, says the Lt. Comm. that's fine, I don't see A.As very often. Were you around last fall, says he. No, says I. Will you be around this fall, says he. No, says I--I am leaving for Miami in a couple of weeks. Then with a smirk and a wise-guy laugh, he told me not to count on it too much for there was "many a slip between the cup & the lip." I don't think that any attempt
