I notice that you have written from the USO center. I presume that you have made acquaintance with some sweet young thing at one of their dances by now, just as a sort of diversion from the general routine. (If you can find anything likely at one of those shindigs you are doing better than I. Of course I only went once and that a long time ago in KC, perhaps, I should have been more persistent.) Frankly, you must find it rather lonely so far from your girl and all that sort of thing. I have no particular interest anywhere but man I long to get back and see some of those little bundles of sweetness that I use to know. For you fellows who are committed it must be pretty hard going at times. I expect to get a dismal letter from Ben one of these days bemoaning the state his romance is now in. I guess you knew he hung his pin on some Pi Phi up at Ames this spring, didn't you? Doesn't this brief taste of military life make you resolve to be an eternal crusader for personal liberty? I presume that I get ordered around and criticized a lot less than some ofthe boys, but just the same I swear I'd exterminate a couple of guys if it could be done without getting thrown in the jug, or court martialed or whatever they would do. Hell, I even find my self unconcsciously trying to get in step every time I walk down the street with someone. Can you beat that-- I have been regimented. Perhaps, you never feel that way-- if so pass it off as an unwarranted gripe. Must terminate now before lights are out. Good luck Stace, and write again whenever you have time. Yours, Nile Cadet N. Kinnick CB #2 R111 Naval Air Station Miami, Fla. Mr. R. M. Stacy SK 3/c U.S. Naval Rec. Station San Pedro CALIFORNIA
