Elizabeth Bice Lueresen August 21, 1942 Mon Chere Nile: Elle est une petite monde - as they say in very bad French. Two weeks ago I flew to Norfolk,Virginia, to spend Honeymoon No. 4 with Russ. En route, I stopped off for a tour - my first - of our Nation's capitol. My taxi driver guide turned out to be Benson Young of Lincoln,Neb. He played basketball against you when you were in Omaha H.S. Others on his team were Don Fitz and Bus Knight - whom you might better recall. I told Russ about the coincidence and, says he, "That's nothing; when I was thousands of miles out in the Atlantic I met an officer who was in Nile's frat at S.U.I." I think his name is Biff Oriole (or some bird) . I met him at Norfolk - he's a tall, brunette fellow who took Law.....So, I repeat, C'est une petite mode. (By the way, that is right for "small world", isn't it? How embarassing if it should be be something else!) The enclosed leaflet was sent to clubs in our territory of seven states, so it looks like I'll be taking to the open road a lot next year - providing we garner some requests. Bob Felt was at Norfolk when I was there. You'll probably go there for a while, too, when you get through at Miami....Have you gotten chummy with Clark Gable yet? I believe he was sent to Miami. Borden's just gave me a $15 per month raise last week, in recognition of the completion of a year with them. So just call me Rockerfellow for short. I've heard from Cousin Louise in California lately. Her hubby gave her a sport's roadster for her birthday, and they have a cabin in northern California where they go in summer - so I guess all is financially well with them. I'd sure love to see Louise. It's been ages since the last time. I'd appreciate a snapshot of you in your handsome whites. The D.C. News didn't at all do you - or th uniform - justice. Maybe someday you'll be assigned to the same convoy as Russ - he's still with the Augusta and getting in a lot of traveling to parts unknown. Someday he'll be able to tell a lot of interesting things and I can use him as a subject matter for my writings.
