Thursday Jan 8, 1942 Dear George: Enjoyed your letter very much. I hope that you will write again telling me how you are getting along in basketball and in your schoolwork. Your penmanship has taken on such an aspect of maturity that I couldn't figure out from just the address whom the letter was from. Your sentence structure and composition have improved over the last time I heard from you. However, you should strive diligently to do even better. Nothing commands such immediate respect as a well written letter. Frequently, those who have never met you must judge you entirely by your correspondence. It is important that your written word mirrors correctly and completely your qualities of character, education, [in left margin] Thanks father for the stationery--but don't send anything other than clippings--don't have time to read mag. sections. How about my R. Digest
