I am sending several enclosures that may or may not need your attention. (1) The other day I bought a federal car stamp and it is enclosed for you unless you have one already. In that case please return it. If you use it the card should be completed and returned, possibly to the Omaha office. (2) A receipt for your car insurance, which you may wish to fold and carry in your purse, or in the pocket of your car. If not, return it. (3) A phi Psi message from bro Tom Platt. (4) Your income tax blanks. If you want me to do anything about it please let me know. The other day I phoned the revenue office here to ask if your navy pay is taxable income, and it is. Your last return was filed in Des Moines. Should you elect to file in Omaha this time, you should notify the Des Moines office to that effect in order that their records will not show you delinquent. Altho you file your federal return in Des Moines, I wonder if you filed a state income tax return last year? If you claimed your residence in Iowa you would be subject to that state tax. If you file as a resident of Nebraska you will have only the federal return to make. The form 1040A is simple enough but makes no provision for claiming exempt income or for deductable expenses. Gasoline state tax, car license, church contributions and gifts are deductable. If you care to supply the information I will be glad to make up the report. (5) Two letters from Ben and a copy of Colonel Pride's letter re Ben. These should be returned. Thanks for the clipping from the CR Gazette. Suppose that B. Hogan sent it. Benson lost a hot contest to Prep last Tuesday; a rough and tumble affair with the Bunnies in the lead with four points toward the end. But Prep boiled over with a couple of long shots from the middle, one of which was made by a lad who had only one bucket to his credit for the season. It was a hard one to lose. George did not engage except to play a splintering game on the bench. Score was 25-24. On Thursday aft the B. Bunnies took Central into camp in handy fashion. 33 to 23, and George played about ten minutes at guard. One chance and no swish. C. Mulvaney made 17 points and should have had 25, according to G. Pa Mulvaney follows Chas like Bill Feller did Bob, and I can see him give the old Red Llewellyn battle cry. For some reason Geo. tries to keep us out of the gallery. Perhaps he is afraid I might go Red one better. Thursday evening I proxied for mother at a meeting of the officers of the Benson Booster Club, she being gone into Iowa. I always feel somewhat at sea in a booster meeting, but I can read minutes and take notes. You recall of course the black suit with the pin stripe that his draped your manly form on more than one state ocassion? George tried it on the other day and it has definite possibilities for him. We intend to have it fitted to his frame, and did his eyes shine. He surely needs a different outfit as the blue number is really high water. Your last letter suggested that you might be at Fairfax about two more months. We wonder if you did not mean two weeks. I hope that Ben gets down for his examination before you leave. Love Pop
