Dear Gus: Sorry I neglected to tell you in my last letter that the Navy uses the Continental Morse code in which C is - . - . & F is . . - . I think it is swell idea that you & Geo. are going to learn it. Try not to count the dots & dashes but just determine the letter by the sound -- it will make it easier when receiving over 5 wds a minute. In sending try to get the rhythm & not count out the dots. Wherever a dot precedes a dash -- eg A = . - & J = . - - - d [illegible] run the dot & [1s?] & dash together eg -- ditdak not dot - dash. S.B.
