Wednesday Jan 21, 1942 Dear People: I don't fly until the second hour this morning so will dash off a note in the short while that I have. First, I might as well answer a few of your questions. No, I don't plan to use ever again that black pin stripe suit. If George cares to appropriate it, he may. I still don't know if I shall be able to get home for a day or two before going south, but it begins to look like a real possibility. No, Bob Runyan did not wash out. It was close, however. He mastered everything in the allotted eight weeks except radio. He just couldn't seem to get the required number of words. Finally, they gave him and another boy an extra two weeks to bring up their code work. They managed to make the grade during the extra fortnight permitted them, and went south yesterday with the class next behind their own.
