February 13, 1942 Dear SB: We have had your several cards and the long letter avout the trip down. Sorry that we selected the wrong road. It is always interesting and instructive to see another part of the country. No doubt you will have ample opportunity to see considerable of the world before your stretch is finished. What an interesting diary you should have by that time. Be sure to keep it up. The sox were ordered the same day that we had your card, and should reach you before you leave New Orleans. They will come direct from Mr. Elclund at Kilpatrick's, and he seemed to know what you would want. You did not state whether you wanted short or long, and we agreed on the short ones. I phoned the U.S.Supply Store before ordering and got an idea of what you had been issued. Perhaps your next letter will have more information on the reasons for the sudden transfer to Pensacola. This will leave you no other opportunity, immediately, to inspect the city of New Orleans and I assume that is somewhat of a disappointment to you. They say that it has many interests, including the experience of dining at some of the celebrated restaurants there. As soon as you have your new address I shall ask the Register to switch your paper. If you can give me any idea of how long you may be at Pensacola I shall extend the sub to approximately that time. The Digest we shall leave as is unless you wish it changed to come to you direct, Next week on Tuesday I embark on a series of annual NFLA meetings which always come at this time of year. Wakefield, Nebraska is first, then Grunday Center and Cedar Falls. From the latter pla ce I expect to run down to Ames for dinner with Ben on Thursday, Adel for the night and back to Omaha on Friday, The following two weeks will be spent in northern and northeastern Iowa, ending up at Manchester on the 6th of March. From there I should be able to make Cedar .Rapids for a visit with the Van Meters. Mother and I were up to Benson last night for a meeting of the Boosters Club; a nice program, George goes to Lincoln tonight with the team to engage battle with Northeast, which has a good club I understand, ..Mother and I intend to eye a movie at the "Avenue", one which mother has been wanting to see, "All that Money can Buy", about Dan'l Webster, you know.
