play a rather important part in a war.  The truth of this has come home to me rather forcibly the past few days.  I refuse to accept the belief that because I have never done very well at shooting that I can't become expert.  Heretofore, I had no particular desire to do well, but now I do, which should make considerable difference.  However, getting an opportunity for extra practice is going to be difficult.  When you stop to consider the factors involved in aerial gunnery - wind, angles, speed of planes, necessity of lead, slip stream, etc. - it is a wonder anyone is ever shot down.  That is the one suggestion I have for Ben - brush up on his shooting if he can get any ammunition.  The rest of this ground school will be a pipe for him, or any other engineering student.  Even for me, thus far it hasn't been difficult.  As I have said before it is exactly the sort of education I need and want - a hasty but rather thorough survey of engines & engine theory.
