Sunday after church a boy by the name of Stuart Hemingway from Syracuse, N.Y. asked me to go over to Pensacola beach with him for a swim. Had a pretty fine time even though Bob wasn't along. He spent the afternoon passing his sailing exam permitting him to take out one of the station sailboats whenever he wants - and has the time. Pensacola Beach is a public beach about 8 or ten miles east of the base. It is a little larger, not so crowded, and has a better surf than the one at the base. We played a little softball, some leisurely touch football, and gamboled in the surf. The waves were big enough to ride in from quite a ways out. We stayed until about five olock, stopping at a nice wayside inn for supper on the way back to the station. It was really quite refreshing and made it much easier to "turn to" on my navigation that night.
