retired early. We sprawled on the beach Sunday morning for a couple of hours, reveling in the warmth and comfort of sand, sea, and sun. In the afternoon Bob went sailing with 3 other fellows whom he had promised previously, and I took a rather lengthy nap. After supper I read awhile in Carl Sandburg's "Prairie Years" of Lincolns life, before turning in early. And now another week has begun. The sun is just coming up and our class is in radio code, but having checked out some time ago, as have a great many, I hastily indict this letter to you. Last week I had a long letter from Ben saying that he and Ellie were very much that way, and that he was thinking of promises of betrothal, etc. He has written you, I believe, and received counsel of caution and conservatism for the most part.
