Dear SB:
Since mailing you a letter written at the office to-day I find
your letter mailed on the 4th, I believe, in which you say that
you are about to join the Marines, and that we had better talk
fast if we have any comment. Mother said that she could hardly
contain herself and refrain from phoning me about the import of
such statement. Of course I had no more idea than she as to what
you meant.  She did not knew that the Marines have an aviation
branch, when I mentioned that you might have reference to a change
from Navy aviation to Marine aviation.  In fact she doubted it
to the point where I was impelled to verify it by phoning the
Navy recruiting office.
Well, you will need to amplify your statement before either of
us can make any intelligent reply. Do you mean just what the
statement says? Shat hardly seems probable.  If so, what are
the reasons? Ordinarily you do not act hastily; so we shall be
much interested in learning more about your thinking. Certainly,
if your remark is serious, there things in the picture that have
not been apparent to us , or me. So lets have the low down, and
in the mean time, don't jump without your parachute.
George is not home for dinner to-night, as the Benson "0" Club
is having induction out at Hummell Park. Love
