2 U.S. Naval Air Station PENSACOLA, FLORIDA The demand for VO-VS (observation & scouting planes based on Battleship or Cruiser Divisions) is much greater than those desiring that duty. The demand for fighters the past two weeks has been about 10% to 15% greater than the application number and is increasing right along. Knowing all this in a casual sort of way, but not letting it influence my decision much one way or the other, I put in for fighters first, "P" boats second, and VO-VS third. In each case I asked for the Pacific fleet, although it really doesn't matter much. All men giving fighters first or second choice must report to the low press. chamber to determine their tolerance for high altitude flying.
