Omaha,  Nebraska
January 3,  1941 Dear  SB:
To-day's mail brought the enclosures from Nig Scott In
further  reference to his overrture  to Mr. Witwer at Cedar
Rapids. It is not entirely clear to me whether he expects
to invite you to call on him,  or whether he will be pleased
to see if you should volunteer a call.  At any rate,  if
you are interested, it would not be any  surprise if you should
look in on him when you are  in CR sometime, even if he does 
not  invite you.
I am sorry that I did not speak agani about your car when you
called me on the phone to-day. Surely you will have learned
the need of more fluid in your radiatir, in the face of colder
weather most certainly  on the way. Probably you should have
that leak fixed soon as you got back to Iowa City.  Maybe
Dean Jones can suggest a good place at a modest price,  or rather
with a modest scale of charges.
The homestead is more quiet than usual this evening.  More like
the old routine, and when George takes to his books instead
of the radio,   it will be  right on schedule. It was a good
vacation, but again - too short.
The Kodak pictures weren't so good.  Focus wasn't correct. Three
are fair and  I will enclose them if you will return them,  or
send them to Ben.    Probably I should have some prints made for
Kate. It was such a golden opportunity, with plenty pulchritude,
consummate charm and magnetic manliness.  Too bad that my
execution wasn't better.    You have to keep in practice to do
well at anything.
