May 28, 1941 Dear Nile: Our sincerest congratulations on your grades. What a pleasing surprise to learn that you did much better than you expected; and third among a big class is s right smart accomplishment. Your grandpappy would be very proud of that. I will try to find some agricultural reading for you, and there should be all that you might want. Probably I can find something down at the bank. Ben is planning on going down to Sedan with Seeley after his examinations are over about Wednesday of next week, and will be home a week from Sunday. Mother and George were going over after his duffle, but to-day we discussed a change in which I shall make the trip on a week from Friday and spend Saturday at the 25th reunion of my class, George declined with thanks my invitation to the reunion, so will stop off in Adel. Ben may come back to Des Moines on Sunday to ride home with us, should that connection be more convenient for him. It will be very good to have the family together again. But hasn't the year flown by? I should like to see the next two year abit more clearly right now. FDR's address last night was a good one, provided that he gets some action. Words won't do the job. He can put on a show better than anyone I know of, but what we must have now is management, decisive execution and results. He will have to hurry if he is going to be the best president this country has ever had. Right now, his chance of being the last president is just about equal to his chance of being the best, He has said that he would be one or the other. Love Pop
