"2 NILE C. KINNICK 5024 HAMILTON OMAHA, NEBRASKA Before closing this letter I am going to hurriedly put down what I know about the whereabouts and activities of those with whom you used to associate as friend or acquaintance. Jim George must be in the Army. I haven't heard from him for two months and the rumor is that he did not get his Marine Commission. I wrote his mother two days ago for news of the blushing one. Jim Hoak is on the west coast as you probably know from personal contact by now. I heard in Des Moines that Dick was taken into the Army since his wife was financially independent. Have had not positive corroboration of that, however. Bill Humphrey is nobly serving his country's cause. He was at Fort Benning for awhile, then at Fort Crook, then at Fort Leonard Wood at Rolla, Missouri, and at present is at Fort Wayne in Mich. for motor schooling but is to return to Ft. L. Wood at the end of this month. He had his pin on a tri-delt during the school year but his last letter postscriptly said that once more the coveted COB was his. Bob O'Meara has joined the Marine Officer's Corp. as has Mike Enich, Bruno Andruska, and Matt Miletich. Dick Evans returned this second semester to work on his degree and will get it at the end of this summer session. He has been deferred since Feb. I believe. I gather that Judge McKinley or someone has some pull with the board. Prasse is playing ball with some S.Caroline club. Buzz Dean is in the Air Corps in Calif. I believe. Bill Diehl got married the forepart of June and hence, escapes the draft. Chuck Brady got married the 12th of June which was the 1st Catholic wedding I had ever attended. Some show. Tom Lind has been coaching up at Clear Lake. Sam Johnson was deferred from the draft because of his eyes, or something. Tom Pansing has been deferred pending action on his application in the F.B.I.--he got his law degree this spring. Dick Pehle is in the Army. He volunteeered I guess and they put him in the cavalry of all places. Hell, he had never even seen a horse previous to that. Bob Waugh is going to summer school at Lincoln and will get his degree in August. George Threadgill is still managing the kids out at Peony and running the archery range at Campbell's driving range in the evening. The cares of the world still seem to furrow his brow. Ben K is working outside on a surveying gang for Nebr. Power. George K. is working around the house, playing a little golf, but growing mostly. You should see him. He is taller than Ben and just a fraction shorter than I. He wears a size 11 shoe and has hands as big as mine. He really is a well built fellow and is getting stringer right along. He will be no gian t but bigger than any of the rest of us I believe. His interest in athletics is moderate and that is about all which in the long run is probably better. Well take it easy Andrews and drop me a line as soon as you can. Would sure like to take a spin in your boat with you. I know you must enjoy it thoroughly. Give my best to the Clarke clan and whomever else might be interested Yours, Nile
