December 15, 1941 Nile C. Kinnick U.S. Naval Aviation Res. Base Fairfax Airport Kansas City, Kansas Dear Nile: Bert McGrane's column in yesterday's Register was of particular interest and I am enclosing it for your perusal. Please return it in an early letter. I thought it so good that I wrote him a little note of appreciation. This morning before I left home Bob Hobbs called up and said that he had just come in this morning on the streamliner about 2 A.M. He asked me to write one of his letters of recommendation, and it is his intention to come down to K.C. as soon as his papers are in order. He must obtain a berth certificate and his other letters. He did not state definitely, but I gathered that he will be down tomorrow, Tuesday. Bob promised to come over for a little visit late this afternoon after I get home from the office so we are looking forward to seeing him at that time. On Wednesday of this week I am driving over to Adel to spend Thursday on farm business, and on Friday will drive to Ames for Ben, and we will return to Omaha that afternoon. You will of course keep us informed on any leave that you may have for Christmas, and we hope it will be possible for you to be home at least a day or two during that period.
