Friday night Dec. 26, 1941 Dear Family: I hope you all enjoyed our brief time together as much as I did. For me the grievous world situation dimmed not at all the significance of Christmas day. In fact it made me hold it that much more dear. Our visit was short, but we were all together in good health and happiness which was the important thing. Christmas eve was just as I had hoped it would be, mother. The meal was fine, Bob was there, a fire burned in the fireplace, date bars and candy were plentiful. All in all everything was just right. And before I go further let me say how much we all are enjoying the box of goodies you put up. It contained many more toothsome tidbits than I had anticipated. Our trip to Kansas City yesterday afternoon was completed in time although we hit a good deal of snow. Between Omaha & Falls City it was pretty
