4. He never took 'em off we're really bound to say, For pajamas and for golf suit he used them night and day, They were round and they were woolly, But they served the purpose bully, And his mother none the wiser, felt so gay. For she clothed him in a suit for "every day," And sure her words were never thrown away, "Every day" meant every night, For all occasions, it was right, At the parties with the smarties or with golfers blithe and gay He has gone to Iowa City now to coach, In football's field no rival can encroach, He was smiling as he left us, And his parting sure bereft us, Though the subject of green slacks we couldn't broach.
