January 24, 1940. Mr. Charles E. Strickland, c/o Peoples Gas & Electric Co., Mason City, Iowa. Dear Charlie: It was a pleasant surprise to hear your voice Monday morning, also to learn that Nile Kinnick will join you in honoring us by attending our Founders Day banquet February 20th at the Lake Shore Athletic Club. We always look forward with eager interest to your visit and what you may have to say to us. May I take for granted that you will introduce Nile to the assemblage in the way that is so creditably yours by reviewing all of the accomplishments and the honors which he has so bountifully brought to the University of Iowa, Coach Anderson, Iowa Alpha Chapter, and, last but not least, our National Fraternity. Do you think that the boys from the active chapters (Northwestern and Chicago) would like to know about his early home life- I mean, by that some of the things that he has done on the way up to the national position he holds at the present time? The before mentioned thought is not suggested, Charlie, because I know you are most capable of presenting him splendidly, but just in thinking about it I as wondering if these young fellows from the active chapters here would be interested in learning things about him that do not appear in the press. What do you think about it? Looking forward to seeing you the evening of February 20th, and with the writer's and our Alumni Association's very real gratitude for the favor shown us, I am Fraternally yours, (Paul C. Mooney) PCM:IY CC: Nile Kinnick Wm. Walling E.A. Twerdahl, Jr Harold Mogg.
