development of the boy's normal appetite. Usually he is so restricted in that respect that it would appear that he pieces all the time, and results in eating practically nothing at meal times. But for the past two weeks it has been tryly amazing. When George will voluntarily order hash for lunch at the school cafeteria and come home bragging how good it was; when he will take doubles on goulash at home and smack his lips, then it is news. He seems more one of the Kinnick boys now, as I do not recall delicate tastes on the part of you and Ben, excepting rice and tapioca. There appears to be some hope that George also will soon develope an interest in the dictionary tho I shouldn't mention something that still is in the nebulous stage. But there is distinctly a metamorphosis under way and I am very happy about the whole thing. Basketball season in the basement is over for the present and pingpong is on again, Geo said this evening that he beat the school champ this aft. Not ub a match game, however; just "messing around". His basketball team at Monroe has been doing right well, tho he deplores his own shooting game. They stand second in the league, and seem to be pretty strong. To-night he and Dick Hanson went down to Tech to see a couple of games in the city tourney. One week ago I took a little vacation, being home from Thursday, Fri and Sat with a running nose. Seemed nice to catch up abit on my reading and sleeping, Not to change the subject, but I hear noises upstairs in the kitchen that lead me to believe that mother is making some Brownies. As the laundry cases are also home and tomorrow is ironing day, I am not too sanguine that the activity will mean too much to the home boys. Last two batches didn't, as Ben got the first one and you got the second. When I stopped at Ames a month ago, one of the speakers on a Farm and Home-Week commented on reading a speech by saying that it is like making love to a girl thru a hedge fence; you can hear alright but the personal contact is very poor. Enclosed are the last few programs from AD Sel which may interest you. Mother and I heard Boake Carter and were much disappointed in his unorganized speech andin his nervous and self important manner on the stage, Last Monday's speaker was real good, tho his pictures were a hodge-podge, mostly a collection of news reel shots that we had seen before. His comments were good, I thought, and he really had been over in the Poland fighting area. Perhaps you will have use for the pocket calender. Possibly mother told you that she is introducing the lecturer in 2nd Church on the evening of the 21st of March? George Channing of Frisco is the man. Maybe you will remember that I told you that Kenneth McClure, Information Agent for the Omaha FCA, has reserved two of the game films from Iowa City for the 22nd and 23rd of March, and if you are home then we would like to have you give the narrative, probably on Friday afternoon after 4 bells. I hope that you can do that for us, No fee, however. Ken McClure used to work on the Sioux City Tribune and is one of the very nicest guys in the Bank. Your pictures came from Washington. Two of the sitting picture and one of the standing pose. I don't like the standing one, but the other pose is perfectly splendid. I feel sure that they altered the expression slightly when they retouched the standing negative, and I have seen that happen before in one that Townsend took of me in Des Moines, and I've never liked it since. Will see you in two weeks. Love Pop
