Omaha, Nebraska March 31, 1940 Dear SB: Pleased to have your card and letter. I do not understand how the clubs became mixed, but I will express the three woods to you at Adel in care of Grandma, so that you will have them by Friday. Probably none of us will come hack this week. I could use an hour or two on the farm there hut there is no emergency. And mother intends to stay several days on her next trip, and we cannot come sooner as we have tickets ordered for "Abraham Lincoln In Illinois" which is here on Thursday evening. So just for a day doesn't fit the schedule this week. Possibly in another week or so mother will be coming. If you bring all of the trophies to Adel mother will transport them to Omaha when she does make that trip. On Friday you have a rather full day, with two engagements. I should like to hear both programs. The Des Moines appointment appears to have a slight political flavor, with the governor on the aggenda. A campaign wouldn't be entirely a new experience for you, after this continual round of speaking dates. Last evening mother and I were over to the Buel's for an informal reception for Miss Gunsalis of Chicago, who is here for a lecture on Oriental art or something. Mother had attended the lecture at the Joslyn in the PM. It was an interesting half-hour in the evening, but the high point for both of us was a young lady whom we met there, Must havo been a relative of the Buel's as there were no others of her age. Name, Betty Dodson. Graduate of Wellesley (let's have a glass of beer) tho she doesn't look that old. Lovely looking gal and appeared like one worth getting acquainted with. She told mother that she has a couple of boy friends in Iowa City, law, I believe; one from Mason City and one from Sanborn. She said she plans on coming down to Iowa City before long, and would like to meet you. If the opportunity comes up, I suggest that you embrace it and/or her. Interested in your comment on your date last Sunday. George and mother have been shopping. Geo. has new trousers, sweater and skis. The latter are not kidding; size 8 1/2 if you please. Mother has a new waiste and hat which enhance her charm and pulchriture. Spring is truly here. She also has a new white gown for church. Another harbinger of spring is we raked the yard; that is George helped with some urging. Prospects for sward look very promising, and the Buffalo plugs in the front parking are alive. If that enterprise devolopes properly it will he an interesting bit of flora. Yesterday I planted some more specimens in my outdoor herbarium, or museum to more exact. Some enclosures may interest you. Love Pop
