[May 26, 1940] Nile C. Kinnick Iowa City, Iowa Sunday 11 PM Dear Mother: The thought came to me rather forcibly tonight that possibly we are on the wrong track. My feelings when strongest on what I want to do are always toward the law - and those feelings are usually much more than just an interest or enthusiasm - usually much stronger than that and looking farther ahead -. Do you think all this "separation" business might be from another angle - keeping me from the path along this line? Now if that means hooking on here as an assistant coach, playing in the All-Star game, etc - I can do it - and enjoy it.
